How deep do they dive?

It is common for Australian Fur Seals to dive and feed near the sea floor, but how deep is it to the bottom where the seals feed?

Australian Fur Seals with dive recorders have mostly fed in Bass Strait. Water depths in Bass Strait are less then 100 metres, so, most dives recorded are to less than 100 metres. In fact, Australian Fur Seal cows prefer to feed in water depths of 60 to 80 metres.

The deepest dive recorded for an Australian Fur Seal has been about 200 metres. Scientists believe that Australian Fur Seals have the ability to dive deeper than this, but they rarely perform deep dives.
