Flippers

The front and back feet of Australian Fur Seals are large flippers. The bones for their back legs are contained within their bodies. Just the bones of the feet stick out and form the hind-flippers. The flippers have short claws.

Flippers are used for swimming and steering in the sea. Fur seals can walk and gallop on land. The claws on the flippers are used for scratching and combing the fur.
